Terms
-
These terms are designed to create a fair and stable framework for both teacher and student. Music teachers often work under uncertain conditions, and a seasonal commitment provides the teacher with the necessary financial security, while the student is assured of continuous high-quality instruction throughout the season.
Buying a season
When you register for Byens Musikskole, you purchase a season of 34 lessons. The season runs from August to June according to the school calendar.
If you sign up later in the year, you will pay from the month you start. For example: if you sign up in January, your first payment will be on January 20th.
The purchase of a season is a financial commitment. You pay either all at once or in 12 monthly installments.
Trial period
All new students start with a trial period of 4 lessons. After the trial period, the purchase becomes binding for the rest of the season and there is no possibility of undoing the purchase.
Purpose of the trial period:
You and your parents will have the opportunity to assess whether Byens Musikskole is the right choice.
The teacher assesses whether you are ready for the lesson.
Price of the trial period:
The trial period costs one monthly installment. If you do not continue after the trial period, registration and payments will stop.
Important terms for the trial period:
You must physically attend all 4 lessons.
In case of illness or absence, the trial period is extended, as a missed lesson does not count. The trial period can extend to a maximum of 6 lessons in total.
Payment
The tuition fee is distributed over 12 monthly installments from August to July.
Payment is due on the 20th of each month.
The purchase is binding for the entire school year and cannot be cancelled prematurely.
Payment options:
Monthly payments are recommended as it reduces administration and keeps administrative costs at 10–15 percent.
You can also pay the full amount at once via bank transfer.
Please contact the school if you wish to pay in one go. There is no price difference, regardless of payment method.
Missed payments
If a payment fails, you have 7 days to update your payment information.
The system sends automatic emails and SMS messages with a link to update.
If the payment is not updated before the deadline, an administration fee of DKK 100 per week commenced will be charged until payment is completed.
Interruption of the music school course
Discontinuation before the end of the school year is only possible under special circumstances, such as documented long-term illness or moving.
When moving, this only applies if you move so far away that it is no longer realistic to attend classes. Changing schools or changes to your schedule are not grounds for interruption.
Cancellation requires a written application.
Any rented or borrowed instruments must be returned before the interruption can take effect.
The music school reserves the right to assess whether the conditions for interruption are met.
Distance learning
In the event of emergencies where physical attendance is not possible, teaching will continue as distance learning to ensure continuity of learning.
Cancellation and revocation
There are 34 lessons plus 2 concerts per school year.
The school reserves the right to cancel up to 2 lessons per season without compensation.
In the event of multiple cancellations by the school, the payment will be adjusted.
Students are encouraged to cancel if due, but missed lessons will not be refunded or replaced.
Rental and loan of instruments
Instruments rented or borrowed through Byens Musikskole are used at the student's own risk throughout the rental period.
Liability and compensation:
If an instrument is damaged, lost or destroyed as a result of accident, improper use or lack of care, the student and parents are responsible for compensation.
Any compensation can be covered through your own contents insurance if this includes rented or borrowed items.
The City Music School does not cover damage or loss of instruments during the rental period.
Normal wear and tear:
Normal wear and tear resulting from normal and correct use of the instrument will not be replaced by the student.
Normal wear and tear is assessed by the City Music School and any affiliated instrument workshops.
Registration and handover:
Cancellation cannot take effect until all rented or borrowed instruments have been returned to the City Music School.
Missing or late delivery may result in additional monthly payments until delivery has taken place.
Payments collected up to the actual handover are not refunded, regardless of whether classes have ended.
Return:
Instruments must be returned in the same functional condition as when delivered, excluding normal wear and tear.
Instruments returned late do not entitle you to a refund of amounts already collected.
